Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the members of the Australasian Lymphology Association Ltd will be held at the Pullman Reef Hotel, Cairns on Thursday the 24th May 2012 at 3.20pm.

The ALA will hold a Consumer Day in Cairns on Saturday 26th May, the last day of the ALA Conference.
It is a great opportunity for the ALA to invite consumers to be part of the 2012 conference and to hear from national and international speakers.

In a move to establish Australian researchers at the forefront of Lymphology research Rotary Clubs announced a critical partnership with the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA) by providing almost $90,000 to fund research into the causes of treatments of Primary Lymphoedema through Rotary Clubs and Australian Rotary Health to raise funds for a 3 year PhD Scholarship for research into Primary Lymphoedema, a life-long disorder that effects around 1 in 6000 children born with the condition. The ALA is pleased to announce the development of a Position Statement on the Use of Compression Garments in the Management of Lymphoedema. Seminar
There will be an evening seminar on Surgical Interventions for Lymphoedema at the Macquarie University Hospital on Monday 28th May at 6pm. Mt Wilga Hospital & Macquarie University Cancer Institute are developing this innovative program and are keen to promote it to lymphoedema therapists, GPs and other medical and health professionals.
Overseas Plastics Surgeon Dr Alex Munnoch will share his experiences of Liposuction for lymphoedema and Dr Quan Ngo will share his experiences from Taiwan of Lymph node transfer surgery. Dr Helen Mackie will provide an overview of the rehabilitation process for appropriate patients.
