ALA Gift Management Fund

In 2008, the association was granted status as a health promotion charity, allowing donations of more than $2 to the ALA to be tax deductible.
The ALA Gift Management Fund was established to receive donations, gifts, legacies and bequests from the public.

The fund is managed by the Gift Management Fund Management Committee which promotes the fund to members and non members, and makes recommendations on the dispersal of funds into activities such as scholarships, research grants, research awards and special projects.

Donations to the ALA Gift Management Fund can be made by:

  1. forwarding a cheque to the ALA Gift Management Fund, PO Box 37 Mount Colah NSW 2079 Australia
  2. electronic funds transfer to ALA Gift Management Fund account (035041 185726). Please forward to us your name, address and details of the electronic funds transfer, either by mail, fax 02 9847 5013 or email treasurer@lymphology.asn.au
  3. using our PayPal facility. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can use your credit card by clicking the link on the PayPal page

A tax deductible receipt will be posted to you.

Inaugural ALA Scholarships awarded

On behalf of the ALA Gift Management Fund Committee and the ALA Council I am happy to announce the exciting news regarding the successful applicants of the Inaugural ALA Scholarships for 2011.

The quality of the applications from members for the education grants made the decisions very challenging, however we are delighted to announce:

  • Heidi Hughes from Port Macquarie Base Hospital has been awarded an Education Grant (Rural) $1000 to attend the ALA Conference in Cairns in 2012
  • Robyn Sierla has been awarded an Education Grant ($1000) to submit a paper and attend the ALA Conference in Cairns 2012
  • The ALA is very pleased to support the work of Elizabeth Turner, Physiotherapist from Canberra who is currently doing research on Exercise as Medicine for the Management of Lymphoedema in Survivors of Breast Cancer. She has been awarded a $5000 Research Grant to complete this research.

The opportunity to award these scholarships has been made possible by the generous donations from both ALA members and the public to the Gift Management Fund. We thank you for your generosity and encourage you to continue to support the association.

Thank you,

Penelope Sanderson
ALA President
